This is a fantastic educational resource. Each kit makes a great authentic shield (made from 4mm grade "A" Scandinavian Birch) This is the kit to get your children really interested in history and it brings history alive to them as well as making it fun.
Roman Auxilia Soldier: This man is a Roman Soldier but he is not a Roman, he is a member of the Auxilia. Auxilia soldiers were not born Roman citizens but were usually born in a territory ruled by Rome. He was typical of the soldiers stationed on Rome's northern British border. After 25 years in the army he would be given Roman citizenship. Any children he had after being in the army would also be citizens.
The sword is 45cm and the shield is 48cm x 28cm.
Loose swords and shields are also available. Please E-mail us if you wish to order quantities for a school project.
